Description: |
An introduction to the basic fluid flow and conservation laws of transport phenomena including the principles and applications of fluid mechanics (momentum transport) to engineering problems. Topics include a detailed analysis of conservation of mass and momentum equations, microscopic and macroscopic balances, dimensional analysis and the application of fluid flow problems to chemical engineering. 400-level is for graduates only. Pre-requisites are PHY 121, MTH 164, MTH 165 (may be concurrent). This is a sophomore-level class; first-years need instructor permission to enroll. |
