Description: This course explores artistic approaches to the internet and emerging technologies with an emphasis on contemporary issues, artists, and theories of digital art. Students will engage in a studio practice using artist-centered techniques of hacking, programming, and imaginative re-use and re-purposing of digital software and hardware. Students’ experimental projects will individual areas of study and interests and will take the form of social networking actions, physical computing, circuit bending, net art works, and recombinant imaging. Open-source, interdisciplinary, and collaborative strategies will be encouraged. This course will culminate with an online exhibition of works using social media apps for a local/physical gallery space as well as global distribution via networked media. . Prerequisites SA 151. Permission of instructor. $50 studio fee.
