Description: This is the advanced Italian language course that follows the intermediate Italian sequence. The course is designed to hone students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing skills to prepare them for advanced culture courses in Italian. Students will read several literary works, through which they will be able to refine their vocabularies and knowledge of complex grammar structures, as well as their interpretive skills. The lessons will therefore be dedicated to both language instruction and literary discussion.

Description: Conducted in Italian, the course addresses different aspects of modern and contemporary Italian culture. It is designed for students who have foundational knowledge of spoken and written Italian and would like to continue improving these skills. In addition, this course will aim to refine and perfect both your writing and speaking skills, as well as your understanding of complex grammatical rules. The focus in the classroom will be on environment, art,  and literature, American influence in Italian society, migration, Italy in the European Community, the Italian economy, and modern challenges, popular culture. The class will dedicate two weeks to the study of the culinary culture of Italy, with a hands-on experience in which students will learn how to prepare traditional Italian food and will organize and cook a full Italian meal.

Prerequisites: at least three semesters of Italian or equivalent, or permission by your instructor.
