Description: We will examine and interrogate the multiple roles that photography and related media plays within our cultural moment with an emphasis on hybrid and multidisciplinary approaches to the medium. The class projects will explore screen and print based photographic collage, appropriation, found imagery and remixing. Interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches will be encouraged. In conjunction to their studio projects, students will view, analyze and read about a range of photographic practices and engage in probing discussions. The students will also keep a process journal where research, inspirations, ideas and experimentations will be published weekly. Basic experience with photography / lens-based media is required.  Studio Art lab fee applied.
